Get moving and get to Vernon Parish, where the the longest running ecological field trip event – the most amazing plants will be on display for your horticultural, botanical enjoyment – the Bogs, Birds and Butterflies event – held now for over 25 years.

An eco-educational event with pizazz, the BBB as it is known, promotes the idea of understanding the environment and incorporating the environment into your daily life.

Vernon Parish is the home of the most beautiful vegetation in the State, with Kisatchie National Forest as Biologist Dr. Charles Allen’s back yard. Its also home to Almost Eden Nursery which is part of this years field trips and days of events.

The grass Pink Orchid – Calapogon spp. – is part of the Pitcher Plant Bog experience if you go this time of year. With Dr. Allen, you’ll also see the very rare Oklahoma Grass Pink.
